One day, I found and bought this vintage Tamron Adaptall Zoom 85-210mm f/4.5 (CZ-210M) in 'defective/for parts' condition. I toyed with the idea of taking it apart and clean it. Unfortunately, it seems that it's impossible to get to the front, rear and middle elements to clean the fungus and haze, because the screws that hold the lens together are rusted and appear to be glued tight. The diaphragm blades were also stuck wide open at f/4.5, even if there was an adapter attached to it.
I cannot say much about this lens since it could not be repaired. But the physical appearance is very stylish, all parts made of metal. It also has a built-in retractable lens hood. Despite its condition, the focusing and zooming rings have a very buttery smoothness and a pleasure to operate. That's about all I could say for this lens.
Tamron made four versions of these under the Adaptall interchangeable mount system, from the early 1970s to early 1990s. The version featured here has a constant maximum aperture of f/4.5 across the zoom range. This means that the maximum opening is f/4.5 at 85mm, and still f/4.5 at 210mm.
I also own a later Adaptall-2 version (Model 03A), which appears to be optically better and was probably their most popular and most sellable zoom. That version had a maximum of f/3.8 at 80mm, and f/4 at 210mm, so you could say it's almost a constant aperture too.
